Maths Science Questionnaire Programme (MSQ)

In order to popularize the Mathematics and Science among the students of Std. IX and Std. X and also to solve their difficulties, GUJCOST has been designed a Mathematics and Science teleconferencing questionnaire programme since 2007 through BISAG SATCOM studio. The programme aims at solving the queries of students in Math and science and in turn helps in increasing and retaining interest of students in these subjects as well as attracts them to pursue career in basic sciences.

A live programme of this programme is conducted from BISAG SATCOM Studio on every Monday from 15.00 hrs to 16.20 hrs. The eminent subject experts conduct the session through multimedia presentation including power point and live demonstrations. Students attending the virtual classes at their respective schools ask questions on the subject through a toll free number (18002334455) and the expert are readily answered their questions during the live session.

The recorded programme of the above episode is re-telecasted through DD-11 on the next Sunday from 13.10 hrs to 14.30 hrs.

During year 2014-15, 34 episodes were organized. During MSQ programme 2014-15 total no of 24 questions/doubts/queries were received via toll free line which were answered satisfactorily by the relevant Expert teachers during the live programme.

Objectives

  • Maths Science Questionnaire Programme (MSQ) aims to solve the difficulty of briefly good Teacher in secondary school for science and Maths.
  • The programme has to deliver lecture in a very attractive and fascinating manner with the use of multimedia presentation.
  • The programme initiating lot security and understanding the subject matter in an interacting way and encourage students to ask creative question to the experts.
  • The entire processes demonstrate the use of science & technology in teaching and learning process.

Beneficially

  • The programme is designing for standard IX and X.
  • In Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) there are 2 lakh students are studying in standard IX and 3 lakh students are studying in standard X in Guajarati medium under state education board so there are also more than 5000 teachers who are also elegant in science and Maths teacher in this classes.

Methodology

Implementation

  • Preparing a very elaborate list of experts and resource persons from all districts and across the state.
  • Organizing an orientation programme among the expert / resource persons about the programme and its better implementation and follow up.
  • Preparing the data base of GUJCOST Science Club schools and to coordinate the programme through prior intimation to all these schools, so that the students can ask maximum questions to the resource persons with a broader outreach.
  • Periodical organization of follow up programmes with Math-Science Teachers, Principal Meet and programmes at district and zonal level for effective monitoring and value addition.
  • As a part of this MSQ programme, it is also proposed to add supplementary activities like "Best Questions Competition” among secondary school students to encourage their creativity and originality and to award them suitably.
  • Preparing a booklet of the MSQ as well as the Best Questions of the students as a part of resource materials for the other students in the school.
  • Compilation of the programme DVD through appropriate edit / modification and to have multiple copies for further use through CSCs and GUJCOST Library.
