Introduction

In order to strengthen the efforts to popularize the science and technology among the society, Government of Gujarat has decided to establish four state-of-art Regional Science Museums at Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Patan.

Museum Themes

Permanent: : Physical Sciences, Life Science, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, Environment, Energy, Communication, Planet Earth, Space, Atomic Energy, History of science, Astronomy, Health and Medicine, Fun Science

Specific: Biotechnology, Biodiversity, Chemistry in Daily Life, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Population and its impact on resources, Climate Change, Natural calamities - awareness and preparedness, Any other topical theme declared by the UN / Government

Introduction

In order to popularize science and technology among the society, Govt of Gujarat (GOG) has taken number of initiatives. GoG has approved to establish four state of art Regional Science Museums each at Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Bhuj.

Halls on various scientific themes, working models, exhibition, history of various sciences, scientist and contributors. Emphasis will be given to new emerging science and technology. Each museum will be developed with project cost of Rs. 25 crore (approx).

Technical Advisory Committee

A Technical Advisory Committee comprising of following six Eminent Persons have been formed for giving scientific inputs for various relevant technical matters with the approval of the Chairman of EC/ GB of GUJCOST.

First meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee was held under the Chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, .Science & Technology,GOG on 9/8/10 to discuss various technical issues related to Regional Science Museums. As per the suggestions of TAC a concept document is prepared

  • To collect, restore and preserve important historical objects, which represent landmarks in the development of science, technology and industry.
  • To supplement formal science education in schools and colleges through out-of-school educational activities.
